the need to service and calibrate instrumentation. In the coastal environment where biofouling can be

extreme the cost of retrieving, refurbishing, and replacing instruments is only exceeded by the cost of

unreportable data due to poor data quality. In that respect, the ACT results are similar to the results our

users have found in the thousands of deployments they have conducted. In fact the ACT results

underrepresent the full capabilities of our sensors. While ACT states in Figure 6 that “comparisons were

limited to one month as a representation of a typical field deployment” our users typically conduct 90

day deployments and can, in ocean environments, achieve deployments up to one year.
