Our thanks to all ACT personnel for all their excellent work testing, analyzing and sharing this valuable
information with users. We are very pleased to see that the HOBO U26 Dissolved Oxygen Logger performed
accurately and reliably in the lab tests. It is also good to see the results and challenges in field deployments,
which helps to show the importance of following good field protocols to obtain the best possible results.
To our current and future users, we would like to share the following suggestions on ways you can improve
your results when you deploy HOBO U26 Dissolved Oxygen Loggers.
Field calibration can be used to improve accuracy
In the MTU deployment there was a slight calibration error that resulted in an offset in the recorded data. This
offset can be mostly eliminated by using the field calibration feature of Onset’s HOBOware software along with
precision measurements taken at the beginning and end of the deployment. If we use the first and last Winkler
Titration reference values for the MTU deployment with HOBOware’s field calibration, you can see how this
improves the accuracy in Figures 1 and 2 below.
